Alrighty, I think I am sticking with this one. It is bright and cheery and I like it. But now I have spent so much time finding a template and updating that I do not feel like writing an actual blog. I do actually have an idea for one. Maybe tomorrow!

I am working on finding a blog template I like but am not having a lot of success. I am tired of looking so this will have to be it for a bit. I cant figure out, while using someone else's template how to put the things on the side that I like such as blogs I read, etc. Suggestions?

There is just something about summer time that makes everything feel more free and relaxing. It is not because my life is free and relaxing, but when I do get the chance it feels 10 times better just because it is summer time.

I am actually having to study a lot right now in prep for a summer class that starts in a week. It will be a good class but right now all I want to do is be done reading (not accomplishing that now obviously). But despite that I still find time to have fun with my friends, enjoy the beautiful weather and stay up late playing games.

This week I am looking forward to the following activities:

  • Finishing my reading
  • Seeing Slumdog again
  • Church softball game
  • Going to Fort Worth to see the BFF
  • Going to a Rangers game with the BFF
  • Eating yummy food and buying cheap clothes with the BFF
  • LOST season finale with the team
  • Continuing to watch LOST with Kaylynn as she works to catch up
  • Cleaning houses to make money
  • Finally getting the stupid WWW t-shirts made
  • Running with Ellen
  • Enjoying the beautiful outdoors while it is still physically possible
That's my week! I also have a few things I am not looking forward to, but the good totally outweighs the not so good. Hope everyone has a good week too!

So I have been growing my hair out for a while now. I never expected it to get this long so I don't remember exactly when I made the decision but it was sometime early Spring of 07. My roommate at the time, Tamara, also had short hair and could never grow it out so we made a deal. We both began to grow our hair out. I am pretty sure I made it way longer than her!

Pre-cut pictures- thanks Kelli

I decided about a year ago that I wanted to donate my hair. I was so sure I was going to do it last summer but then I chickened out. It would have been really really short! So I kept growing and have actually become quite fond of my long curly hair. Once it started to get long, Kate from Lost became my inspiration. She had such beautiful, long, brown, curly hair and I wanted mine to look like hers!

It is so crazy long, and even longer when not curly

I finally decided a few months ago that it was time to chop it off. It was getting so long and stringy and was driving me crazy. My pony tail got so heavy that it started to give me headaches. I was constantly messing with it and messing it up because it was getting in my way. So I made an appointment for the day after I was done with school. It was my reward.

It does not seem like that much when you see it like this. I sent it off so I hope someone in need gets a good wig out of it!

I got it cut from this lady who is known as the curly hair expert in Abilene. This was a huge step for me because my last trim came from my roommate, and before that (like 2 years before) I had just gone to the cheap places like Great Clips or whatever I could find. But I thought since I was getting such a drastic cut I should go to someone who was really good. And she was! She did a great job.

There it is!!

So now I have my new summer do and I love it! It is short, but not as short as I have gone in the past. It is nicely layered and I am trying some new curly hair tricks she taught me.

All gone! I love it!

As I was telling my friend Mandy I got my hair cut she reminded me of a past cut. I wanted to go short (I think I was a Jr. in high school). Meg Ryan was my inspiration. So I took her picture in and I truly believe the lady cut it as close to Meg's as she could but we just did not have the same hair type. I stayed strong while in the salon (because I have never been able to tell the hair cut people when I am not happy with the cut. I just suck it up) and as we walked out but then I saw Mandy. We were in the mall and she obviously noticed the difference and said something and I burst into tears! I hated it!!!

I eventually grew into it and really liked it but decided I looked like a boy so I grew it back out. It took me a long time to forgive Meg. I seriously did not want to watch her movies for a long time because of that cut. That is only one of my hair stories. I have kinda crazy hair that has changed over the years so it never gets boring!!!
I think this is the actual picture I took in

I have been a runner off an on since about 7th grade. I ran for sport, I ran for fun, I ran for exercise, and I ran to race. My peek running time was when I ran in the Houston Half Marathon over 3 years ago. Training was so fun and challenging and the race was a blast. I had runners high and wanted to do it again.

Then I moved to Colorado, got busy and never really adjusted to running the huge hills that were everywhere. Then I tore my ACL and ever since have been hesitant to get back into it. Not that running could tear my ACL again, but knee surgery was not kind to my entire knee.

Since being "fully recovered" I have run a little here and there in a desperate attempt to find some way to exercise. Only recently have I come to enjoy it as much as before, but this is for a different reason. I have, for the first time, found a running partner. I never wanted a partner because I thought it would be hard to work around 2 schedules and that we would never be at the same pace but I have loved it.

Ellen and I have about the same pace and are neither running for a fast time, just to be active and healthy. We talk the whole time we run which makes the time speed by. We encourage each other and between the two of us, we have been pretty consistent for the past few weeks. We are both enjoying it and looking to the future to maybe run in a race. We are up to three miles right now, and actually went a little further the other day. We are praying it stays cool as long as possible because running in Texas heat is tough!!!

I am not sure I am ready to go for a half marathon just yet, but something like a 10k would be great! Know of a good one? I even bought some new running shoes and cannot wait till they arrive. They are the same kind I ran my half in but an updated version. I am hoping new shoes will help this all be easier on my knees.

Aren't they beautiful! I love how clean and pretty new running shoes are!

Well I have procrastinate long enough this morning. It is time to get this paper written to wrap up the school year. Hooray!

I feel slightly like a band-wagon jumper for writing this post, but what-the-hey! I have been a fan most of my life so...Way to go Houston Rockets! They made it past the first round of playoffs for the first time in like a billion years, so it seems. They probably do not even know what to do next!!
I admit, I have not watched an NBA game all season but I also do not have cable and cannot even watch the playoffs. Stupid TNT! Either way, I am excited for them and wish I was in Houston to feel the energy. There is just something so exciting about being in a city where a sports team is doing well...and Houston does not get that often. Maybe the will still be going strong when I go home in a few weeks.

I sure hope they beat LA next week!!!
