Woah Momma! I cannot wait!!!!

So apparently there is a website called My Life Is Lost where people post when something in life makes them think of Lost or say a quote from Lost, etc. I wish I had known about this while Lost was still on because I totally had moments like that and I know my friends did too. I found out about it through the actor who plays Hurley. He has a blog that I follow.

On his blog he also posted this conversation that comes from a website called Overheard in New York. I cannot say if the website is worth looking at but this is totally funny (if you watch Lost):

That Jerk Never Returns My Calls

Girl #1: This whole Ben situation is really starting to piss me off.
Girl #2: I know! I just don't know what his deal is.
Girl #1: He called me like twelve times yesterday.
Girl #2 (stopping in the middle of Penn Station): He called you? (pauses for a moment) Oh, you mean Ben your boyfriend, don't you?
Girl #1: As opposed to?
Girl #2: Ben from Lost.
Girl #1: Don't talk to me for an hour, please.

Look at those beautiful fruits and veggies! Aren't they amazing!!!! I was so thrilled to find such yummy produce, grown by local farmers.

I had been to the local farmers market once, last summer with Kelli, and had not been back since, although I always intended to. I had a good experience then, getting okra and frying it for the first time. It was so yummy!

So the other day my teammate Sara mentioned that she wanted to go to the farmers market and we agreed that we should do it sometime. Then, on Wednesday night, I was talking with Nancy at dinner and she was saying what great blackberries she had gotten at it on Tuesday and I was inspired.

I called Sara that night and we made plans to go the next morning. It opens at 7am and I was not sure if there would be a rush and all the good stuff would be gone so I wanted to get there early, but not too early. We got there a little before 8am and there was tons of selection left. There tons of different kinds of squash, lots of onions and tomatoes and all sorts of other produce.

We surveyed our options and then made our purchases. I wish I could have bought more but I need to see if I can finish what I bought in this round before I get more. Luckily, I got to share my c antelope, berries and tomatoes with friends on Saturday so that helped me make a dent.

The farmers selling their produce were so sweet and cute. Most of them wrinkly old men with baseball caps that looked like they had spent some serious time outside, working the land. I was so impressed and I cannot wait to go back.

I tried to find a website for you local readers to get information from but I could not find one so if you ever want to go it is Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays starting at 7am. You should check it out!

Haha, here is my blog from last summer, amazingly also entitled Farmers Market.

So, I am not really sure how to handle this having two blogs thing. Our team blog is not just my blog so I do not want to get rid of this. Also, everything I want to write about will not be applicable to the team blog so I should keep this one, but what do I do when I want to share my experiences on both this blog and that one but I am not sure if everyone reads both, especially since the other one just got created. Is there protocol for that? Who knows! I guess I will just say, go look at my post on the Conce Team blog!!!

Now you all should do it because I had a really fun day today I want to tell you about! And as a little preview, let me just say that I am the one who got the ball stuck in the triangle. :)

Our team started a blog. Yea! Check it out!

http://conceteam.wordpress.com/

There is not a ton of information on there but it is a good start and a good point of contact for the internet savvy. I know that if I am looking for something like an organization or a company and they do not have a website I lose interest fast so I figure it could be the same for us. So, please make a little visit to our little site. I would love your input!

After reading the previous blog you may be wondering, "so Dee goes to a meeting every day but what does she do the rest of the day because surely those meetings do not take up all her time, right?" Right! Now whether you were actually wondering, you probably were not but pretend like you were and I will answer your question!

Our team time is very structured but the rest of my life is a little less. I have daily things I attempt to accomplish on my own that I see as important to my training. Things such as Bible study, prayer time, continuing my education through reading, doing whatever fund raising tasks are needed, researching information about moving to and living in Chile, and working on whatever team tasks I am assigned for the week (preparing a devo, cooking a meal, etc.). These activities take up much of my daily time.

One of the books we are reading as a team

The rest of my time is filled with my favorite thing, PEOPLE!!! I try to put myself in as many situations involving people as possible. Many times these people are my teammates. We like to do fun things together like eat, play games, watch movies and playing outside. We also like to join each other in our daily activities such as exercising, grocery shopping, running errands, and cooking. While these are all fun things to do together we also consider them training because they are things that help us continue to deepen our relationships and get to know each other better.

A game our team loves to play

I also love filling my time with the other important people in my life such as church friends, school friends, roommates, neighbors and anyone else that wants to hang out. I am not picky! I try to make myself available to those in need around me so I can help others in whatever ways they might need (providing a ride, being a listening ear, taking food). And I have a handful of relationships that are helpful to me spiritually and that encourage me in my walk with God. I am so blessed!

So as you can see every day looks different than the other and every week takes on its own personality as well, depending on what needs to get done and who is available. When I add it all up I am one busy girl and I am loving what I am getting to do.

I don't care what the calendar says it is officially summer here in A-town. It has felt like summer for a couple of weeks now but since Memorial day has passed, classes have been over for a few weeks and it is STINKIN' HOT outside I declare the Summer of 2010 to have begun.

Life has been a little crazy for my team lately. There has been lots of traveling to see family, attend graduations, celebrate birthdays, finishing jobs, taking classes and present to churches. All of this has been wonderful but I think we are excited to get back into the rhythm of meeting, planning and training. Our new summer schedule began today and I am very excited about it.

For the spring semester, you may remember, our schedule was uneven with lots of meetings falling on one day (Team Tuesdays) but this summer things have evened out a little bit. On Mondays the guys and girls are having separate time to study Scripture together. Tuesday afternoons we have a strategy meeting to discuss discipleship and then a fun night together (more on this to come), on Wednesdays we meet to work on and share more practical aspects of moving to a foreign country (visas, travel, language school, etc.). Thursday afternoons is another strategy meeting to discuss leadership. Friday morning we have our devo time that we love and then Sunday night is our team church. I love it! I love spending time with these amazing people and I love that we are getting back into the swing of things.

Now to the really important issue at hand. What will replace watching LOST as a team on Tuesday nights. This was a serious topic that took many strategy meetings to figure out (haha, just kidding...) but we finally came to a decision that I am quite happy about. Now nothing can ever replace LOST fully but there is a show that a few of us on the team have been enjoying and are excited to share with everyone else.

Have you seen this show? It just finished its second season and it is great! We have started from the beginning and are renting the DVDs from Hastings (only $.99). I know it has not been long since I saw the first season but I have already forgotten a lot so it is fun starting over. The show is about FBI agents who deal with Fringe science cases. It is a little gross at times but so interesting. I love the characters, especially Walter and Astrid, and I love all the strange things they encounter.

So that is what we are up to recently as a team. I have not said it enough but we are so blessed to have the support of the A&M church for this year that has allowed us to spend this time together. I promise that we do not watch TV all the time. :)
